This is a traveling stage by the Apocalypse Theater. I have seen it in operation and it is magical. There are actually eight bicycles hitched together to pull it, and since only the frontmost rider needs to steer, the others have their hands free to clap coconut shells together. At night, with the gas lanterns lit, this produces the most eerie simulation of a horse-drawn carriage clip-clopping down the street.
